Arcangeli Feiteiras Verdelho 2016

Another great find in South Africa, made from the Portuguese grape Verdelho. According to the producer, when first generation Italian Sandro Arcangeli acquired the farm Feiteiras from its previous Portuguese owners, he renamed it Arcangeli. The Verdelho vineyard on the farm had gained such a loyal following that it made sense to name the wine from this Portuguese variety after Feiteiras.

Aromas composed of lemon, unripe peach and pear.

In my mouth tasted fresh, light, young, dry, jovial, very appetizing, it clings to the roof of my eating cavity like a wafer. It is like experiencing a carousel of multiple summer fruits one after the other.

Cartuxa Colheita 2013

Made from Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Aromas of toasted wood, plum, raisins and vanilla.

It has anise and white raisins, grows and gains body, it stings on the tongue. Is it tasty. It's hot.

It crawls and glues to our flesh and I love it.

The aroma is cold. It hides summer tutti frutty.

It has a thin layer, almost invisible, of sweet resin on the outside that blends with a focused sweet ripe fruit. Lightly crisp as it's ambition, makes it enjoyable and easy drinking.

Wildehurst Chenin Blanc 2015

Pear, melon that triggers the senses.

Fresh, lightweight, poisonous. It's a train full of good things. At the beginning is the ripe pear that blends with cantaloupe. At the end it has honey and gooseberries that vanishes in the form of steam.

I want more of this.

Domain Des Dieux Sangiovese 2013

Aromas with anise, raisins, some smoked oak and syrup.

Spicy, dry, hard and slightly bearded, it has raisins with toasted wood. It feels like a simple Port wine. It needed a bit more of an edge.

Anima Chenin Blac 2014

Cup of Peaches, some cantaloupe and mineral water in the aromas.

In the mouth it is soft, fatty, ripe cantaloupe, peach and then changes to mineral profile where it drags the pieces of cantaloupe that we take to the beach on that hot day. It's not fresh, it's loaded.

Remhoogte Honeybunch Chenin Blanc 2016

Tropical fruit, resin, deep and senses opener.

It's a turbine. There are strange fruits that I habitually eat in the Southern hemisphere, but I do not remember which, Creamy, with lots of grip. Ends salty like sushi soy sauce.

Kevin Arnold Shiraz 2012

Smoke, toasted wood and black fruit.

Spicy, diabolical, cured, addictive and deeply black. It's a wine that wants meat to pair, its fully heavy weight body with an endless finish.

Haarlem to Hope 2016

Made from a blend of Chenin Blanc, Semillion, Muscat d’Alexandrie and and Muscat d' Frontignan.

Stewed pear and lemon in the aromas.

Light, citric character, sifting gears to deep ripe pear and hints of muscat grapes. Really enjoyed the jumping nature of the wine from one spectrum of character to the other. Well balanced and enjoyable with a salty and mineral finish.

Blind Touriga Nacional 2015

South African wine makers are not worried with the establishment and the patterns and standards around particular wine varieties. In their opinion, the terroir is the ultimate differentiation. This is made from Touriga Nacional.

Many spices mixed with red fruits of uncontrolled origin. There is also barrel and smoke in the aromas.

Light, with caffeine, tobacco, gooseberry, vanilla, chocolate, it never ends. It is soft and silky, if it had a little more of traction in the tongue It would become more magical.

Hexagon 2013

Took me some years to put my mouth on this species. Made from Alvarinho, Antão Vaz, Viosinho and Verdelho.

In the aromas I could discover resin, wild flowers, fig and gooseberries. Brutal and petulant.

Lots of angles and mirror reflections. The pine tree resin strikes against us at first it is the chemical phase, then dried leaves of tea from multiple sources calms the chemical toxicity, then we have the extra ripe apricot. It swirls in compact mode. A luxury.

It may not please everyone because of the strong character, but it made me an addict.

Penny Viognier 2014

Aromas of pine tree resin, wild honey and some tea hints and crystals.

It propagates. Very round it swirls in the mouth. Ripe edgy, more peach oriented with some lemon that soon takes control. High concentration that takes the breath. Wild honey, ripe pear, so vicious and addictive. Ends salty with lemon, mineral and a light anise sensation. What a punch.

I loved the white blend from the same producer that I decided to jump into the red blend made from Shiraz, Grenache, Cinsault and the Portuguese Tinta Barroca, a usual blend partner in this area of the globe.

Aromas are austere. Moist soil, blackberries and alcohol turbo charge.

It's fresh, but is hard as stone. Light and spicy but everything passes without leaving a trace. Where did the joy went? It has an anise, and ends with a red fruit spark that disappears quickly.

Branco da Talha 2014

Made with Roupeiro and Antão Vaz.

Aromas with wild honey, some cookies and lychee.

Dry, slightly chemical begins with lemon, keeps the honey in the mouth together with some fatty sensation that sticks. Ends long.

Quinta de Roriz Reserva 2010

Aromas are deep. Ripe plum. Flowers. Some vanilla.

Spicy, dark pepper, bold, rich concentration, balsamic, silky and robust. It is a controlled explosion of plum. Ends hot and drags the flavor with some milk chocolate.

Veloblanc 2014

Feito a partir de Colombar, Chenin Blan e Viognier.

Aromas com goiaba algumas notas de laranja e no fundo pera.

Leve, cítrico, com goiaba e polpa de pera, cola-se à boca e ao tubo digestivo. Simples, lindo, muito bom para beber a solo.

Made from Colombar, Chenin Blan and Viognier.


Aromas with guava, some orange hints and in the bottom pear.

Light, critic, with guava and pear pulp that sticks to the mouth and the digestive tube. Simple, beautiful, amazing to drink solo.

Rocking Horse 2015

No Cabo existe a tradição de produzir vinhos feitos a partir de blends oriundos de parcelas especiais, para tentar escapar do domínio dos aborrecidos monocasta que a maior parte dos produtores coloca do mercado.

Este é feito a partir de Roussanne, Semillon blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin blanc e Clairette blanche.

Aromas com fruta madura com preponderância para o pêssego e alguma laranja.

Leve, fresco, cresce na boca, tem muito tutti-frutti saboroso combinado com sal que termina com raspa de laranja.

In the Cape there is a tradition of producing wines made from blends from special parcels, to try to escape the dominance of the boring single variety that most producers put on the market.

This one is made from Roussanne, Semillon blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin blanc and Clairette blanche.

Aromas with ripe fruit with lots of peach and some orange.

Light, fresh, it grows in the mouth with a lovely salty tutti-frutti that ends with orange peel.

DeMorgenzon Reserve Chenin Blanc 2016

Aromas com nectarina, groselhas amarelas, flores silvestres e limão.

O ataque a caminho do tubo digestivo é composto por mel, chá, ervas silvestres, groselhas amarelas e muita nectarina. Termina com limão, que perdura com as groselhas amarelas. Lindo.

Full of aromas with nectarine, gooseberries, wild flowers and lemon.

The attack on the way to the digestive tube is made of honey, tea, wild herbs, gooseberry and kilos of nectarine. Ends with lemon that keeps persisting blended with the gooseberries. Lovelly.

Cartology 2015

Feito a partir de dois lotes de Chenin Blanc e Semillon provenientes de vinhas velhas.

Aroma resinoso, com mel, groselhas amarelas e pera madura.

Fresco, límpido, complexo. Mil folhas de coisas boas. Mineral no início onde tudo se esconde, depois vem o anis, as groselhas amarelas e especiaria, parece um tinto, acaba cheio de fruta madura e liberta um balsamo surpreendente. É uma beleza.

This is made from two selected blends of Chenin Blanc and Semillon sourced in old bushes.

Aroma is resinous powerful, with honey, gooseberries and ripe pear. 

It fresh, clear and complex. Lots of layers to enjoy. Starts mineral which everything hides, then it comes the anise, the gooseberries and spice, it seems a red wine, ends up with ripe fruit blended with an amazing balsamic. It is so beautiful.

Barolo della Tradizione 2013

Feito a partir de Nebbiolo .

Aroma escuro. Bagas e caixa de tabaco.

Na boca tem especiaria, pimenta preta, bagas e madeira torrada. Anda por lá anis, flores e acaba vegetal. O vinho tem feitio e só casa bem com a comida certa, como por exemplo carne assada.

Made from Nebbiolo.

Dark aroma. Berries and tobacco box.

In the mouth has spice, black pepper, berries and toasted oak. There is anise, flowers and some dry leaves. The wine has a strong character and only pairs well with the right food, such as, roasted meat.

Meerlust Chardonnay 2015

Muito aromático. Vale a pena ficar com o copo na mão e sentir a nectarina e as groselhas amarelas.

Tem vida própria. Compacto, guloso, com boa dose de banha que faz com não deixemos o vinho escorregar pela goela adentro. Tem tanto suminho de fruta concentrado, melhor que o Compal, um luxo.

Very aromatic in a way that I wanted to keep the glass in the hand and feel the nectarine and the gooseberries.

It has a life of its own. Compact, tasty, with 3 big spoons of fat that makes me keep the wine lingering in the tongue. It if full of fruit juice, better than any available soft drink.

Quinta do Cerrado 2015 Encruzado

Fruta madurinha no nariz. Muito sugestivo e apetitoso.

Que saudades que tinha do balsamico, do melado, das flores silvestres, da fruta Madura e do químico escondido porque ainda é jovem.

Lots of ripe fruit. Aromatic and suggestive to start the drinking journey.

I miss this profile so much! The balsamic, the honey, the wild flowers, the ripe fruit and some chemical notes, because it is still youthful.

Carl Everson Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2015

Aromas resinados pouco habitual para estas bandas. Alguma groselha amarela e folhas verdes.

Na boca parece magma. Espalha-se lentamente na boca como tinta permanente num copo de água. Não é possível descrever ao que sabe. Ė incógnito. Tem um pouco de plasticina. Termina muito longo e a fugir para o infinito.

Chemical aromas, some gooseberry and green leaves.

In the mouth it seems magma. Spread slowly in the mouth like permanent ink in a glass of water. It is not possible to describe what you know. It's incognito. It has some plasticine and ends very long and moves into infinite.

Creation Chardonnay



Aromas a pêssego maduro, bolo inglês sem frutos secos (só massa com manteiga) e algum citrino para temperar.

Na boca está cheio de banha de porco que aumenta a probabilidade de contrair cancro. Tem muito de tudo, bolo com manteiga, pêssego maduro, groselhas amarelas e madeira fresca que nunca mais acaba. Faz sentido? Depende. Se o bebemos dentro do contexto vale as três estrelinhas do costume, mas se não é o caso, vale muito mais. Que se lixe o lastro da madeira.

In the aromas there is a lot of ripe peach, English cake without the fruits (only the cake dough with butter) and come citrus for seasoning.

In the mouth is of an excessive force. It haves so much fat and lard, too much of everything, ripe peach, gooseberries, butter. It makes sense? it depends, drank in a normal context, it would reach the classical 3 stars, if that is not the case, it is worth much more. Just forget the ballast of the oak.

Feito de Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz e Tinta Barroca.

Doce, preto e madeira nos aromas. Tem compostura.

Na boca tem sempre compota no fundo. Andam por lá amoras e framboesa. É Bojudo, gordo e fácil de beber. Tem lambarice e acaba com uma nota de terra.

Made from a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca.

Sweet and darkness in the aromas with some oak. It have composure.

Fruit jam is always there. It can be felt blackberries and strawberries. It is fatty and easy drinking. You will end up licking your lips, ends with some soil subtle notes.

Quinta da Pacheca Vinhas Velhas 2013

Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Sousão, Tinta Amarela.

Aromas a frutos vermelhos.

No inicio a caminho da goela é vermelho e depois fica preto. Anguloso e compotado. Fresco, compacto, fumado e torrado ao estremo que fica como denominador comum. A personalidade é preta e com especiaria. O preto é opaco.

Aromas of red fruits.

In the beginning, as in enters into my body is red but then becomes dark. Full of angles and with fruit jam, still, is fresh, toasted, deep toasted that transforms into the key denominator. It have opaque dark character with spice.

Châteaux de Baune Le Chardonnay de Chardonnay

 Aroma a Citrinos e alperce.

Seco, leve, muito mineral, termina com a sabor a alperce e limão, pão fresco, com miolo. Não em cativou, não tem grande história.

Aromas with citrus and peach.

Dry, light, very mineral, ends with apricot and hints o lemon, bread and lots of crumbs. Did not captivate, does not have a story.

Sossego 2015

Feito com Arinto, Roupeiro e Antão Vaz.

Aroma frutado.

O vinho tem falta de profundidade. Como no ténis, as bolas ficam sempre curtas em vez de cair sobre a linha e deitar o adversário fora do corte.

Fruity aroma.

Lacks deepness. Like in tennis, the balls fall short behind the baseline instead of falling on top of it putting the opponent out of the game.
