Hugel Riesling 2008 Branco

Aromas:
Moderado no nariz.

Recomendado.

English:
Single vine variety made from Riesling, aging in the bottle at least a year before being released to the market.

Appearance:
Pale green. Do not leaves tear in the glass.

Aromas:
Moderate in the nose. Stone fruit, a little thin layer of floral , some citrus and some green apple hints.

Palate:
Light and dry, start with a fruity apricot flavor  and then goes  for citrus blended with apple. The flavors are well defined, it is addictive. Ends with lemon flavor like we lick a lemon but without the acidity, it's possible to imagine juice mixed with saltpeter. This finish is amazing.
Finish:
Medium, but with the flavor glued to out tongue. Fantastic.

Conclusion:
A super Riesling for only 12 € in Portugal. Complex, fresh, tasty, addictive and wonderful. Paired in perfection with grouper goes well with shellfish. Recommended.

Brentino 2006 Tinto

Cor granada escura. Deixa lágrima no copo.

Aromas:
Moderado e simples: frutos vermelhos frescos.

Palato:

English:
Italian wine made from the Mc Donalds grapes of the reds: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Appearance:
Dark garnet color. Leaves tear in the cup.

Aromas:
Moderate and simple: fresh red fruits.

Palate:
Attack with oak and some hints of chocolate. The oak toast is different and leaves it's mark. There are also red fruits with that appealing flavor that pleases anyone. It has high tannins and a slightly high acidity. Results simple but it's easy to drink with to much alcohol that warms the digestive tract.

Final:
Medium.

Conclusion:
I was not very pleased with the outcome, but for sure pleases those who like easy-drinking wines with international profile.

Churchill's Estates 2008 Tinto

Cor granada ligeiramente saturada, deixa pouca lágrima no copo.

Aromas:
Compacto no aroma: frutos vermelhos e alguma baunilha.

Palato:

English:
This wine is made from a blend of Touriga nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz.

Appearance:
Slightly saturated garnet color, almost no tear in the glass.

Aromas:
Compact in aroma, red fruits and some vanilla.

Very light body. Soft but with a simple character. Red fruits without leaving a mark and some oak. It has balanced acidity but it lacks structure. This wine is "fluid."

Finish:
Medium.

Conclusion:
It costs 11€. Very expensive for what it offers. Sometimes is not a very good idea t buy table wine from a Port producer.

Vertice grande Reserva 2009 Branco

Cor dourada.

Aromas:
Moderado de aromas. Cítrico no nariz . Lágrima escorre lentamente.

Palato:

Recomendado.

Nota: Garrafa oferecida pelo produtor.

Quanta Terra Grande Reserva 2009 Branco

Amarelo ligeiramente saturada. Lágrima escorre lentamente no copo.

Aromas:

Acompanha bem peixe gordo assado.

Nota: Amostra oferecida pelo produtor.

English:
Two years passed from a great tasting experience of the red from the same producer. Now it's time to put our hands on the white.

Made from the grape varieties Gouveio and Viosinho. According to producer fermented and aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months.

Appearance:
Yellow slightly saturated. Tear trickles slowly into the glass

Aromas:
Ripe summer fruits, suggestive, but moderate.

Palate:
Summer ripe fruit attack, pineapple and apricot with some power, but the flavor dissipates and switch to mineral. The acidity needed to be much more live. Lightweight body ends with a slight balsamic and the ripe fruit sensation returns and glues to our throat.

Finish:
Long.

Conclusion:
I did not like the bipolarity (ripe fruit / mineral sensation). Need more acidity to bring life and structure. It goes well with fatty fish in the oven.

Note: The sample offered by the producer.
