QG Colheita Seleccionada Alvarinho 2008 Branco

Português:

Vinho feito a partir da casta Alvarinho.

Aparência:
Amarelo palha, com alguma saturação.

Aromas:
Jovem, tem aroma tropical: muita manga, algum fruto de caroço e notas florais.

Palato:
Acidez crocante quase a fazer mousse .

Custa 7,5€.

English:

Wine made from Alvarinho  .

Apperance:
Straw yellow, with medium coulour depth.

Aroma:
Young, tropical, lots of mango, some stone fruit and floral notes.

Palate:
Crunchy acidity providing mousse (lovely). At the beginning felt mango concentrate, with some stone fruit but then the flavour dies in the mouth and is too bad because I liked it's intensity. It is a wine with tropical nature, light and fresh but lacks consistency.

Finish:
Short for Vinho Verde.

Conclusion:

Liked a lot of it's acidity, but it's not enough. Costs 7,5€.

Thanks! I was most impressed by the 2009 Gomariz line-up. The Vinhão was so cool! I hope it sells....

Have you tasted their single variety Avesso? A totally new experience for me.

All the best,

Niklas

Niklas:

Vinhão is a kind of wine drank in the taverns in Alto Minho region using in a ceramic bowl!

It is a wine with a high degree of astringency, which usually appeals to a restricted group of consumers.

In Portugal is considered a low quality wine until Jancis Robinson said the opposite ...

I know; that is strange to me. The Gomariz Vinhão had lots of character and resembled a cru Gamay in my eyes. And yes, i know about the chinese bowls - it's so cool!

Niklas - who thinks vinho verde deserves more attention in the world!
